The plastic-free clothing standard

We read labels
so you don't have to

Finding polyester/other synthetic-free clothing shouldn't feel like a research project. We built Wear 100% so you can cut through the noise and discover clothes that actually deserve to be bought.

What we exclude

The plastics you won't find here

These are the synthetic fibres that make up roughly 60%-70% of the clothing industry — and 100% of what's banned from Wear 100%.

Polyester
AKA: PET, recycled polyester

The world's most common clothing fibre. Made from petroleum. Sheds microplastics with every wash. Even "recycled" polyester still releases plastic particles.

Nylon
AKA: Polyamide, PA6, PA66

A synthetic plastic polymer, common in activewear, tights and outerwear. Sheds microplastics and takes hundreds of years to break down.

Acrylic
AKA: Dralon, Courtelle

A plastic fibre often used to imitate wool. One of the worst microplastic shedders — releases up to 730,000 fibres per wash.

PVC
AKA: Vinyl, polyvinyl chloride

A rigid plastic used in raincoats, waterproof shells and shiny "vinyl" finishes. Doesn't biodegrade and can release harmful chemicals as it breaks down.

Polypropylene
AKA: PP fibre

Used in sportswear and base layers for moisture-wicking. A plastic derivative with significant microplastic shedding.

Polyurethane
AKA: PU, faux leather

The basis of most "vegan leather" and coated fabrics. A plastic-based material that degrades into microplastic fragments over time.

Common questions

Is Tencel / Lyocell / Modal plastic-free? +
Yes. These semi-synthetic fibres are made from plant or wood pulp (usually eucalyptus or beech) using a closed-loop process. They contain zero plastic (although they can be chemically treated — always look for OEKO-TEX certification) and are fully biodegradable.
What about recycled polyester — isn't that sustainable? +
Recycled polyester is still polyester — and it still sheds microplastics with every wash. While recycling plastic bottles is better than landfill, turning them into clothing doesn't solve the microplastic problem. We don't list it.
Do I pay more when buying through Wear 100%? +
Prices on Wear 100% may occasionally differ slightly from the brand's own website due to technical limitations, which we're working to address. The final price is always whatever is shown on the brand's website.
How do you handle returns and customer service? +
Since you buy directly from each brand's website, their returns policy and customer service applies.
Can I suggest a brand to be listed? +
Absolutely — we love hearing about plastic-free brands we haven't discovered yet. Email us at admin@wearhundredpercent.com or reach out to us on Instagram/TikTok @wearhundredpercent.
